The six stories in Curtis's "Alpha Ops" series fall deftly into one of the signature military romance tropes. In each of these second-chance-at-love tales, a civilian female has a hot and heavy one-night stand with a ripped soldier out of her wildest fantasies. Just when they've both chalked the experience up as a once-in-a-lifetime memory, her job puts her in a wartime hot zone, in harm's way, with only her fling to stand between her and certain doom. They fall in love while the bullets are flying; a great escape.
