Hostage negotiator Kit Kenyon and police detective Noah Lambert are new partners. Their partnership is tested by fire when they begin the hunt for a serial killer and discover that the killer is also hunting one of them. VERDICT This plot-driven third entry in Eason's series (after Too Close to Home and Don't Look Back) is sure to appeal to fans of romantic suspense as well as readers who like Joel C. Rosenberg and Ted Dekker.

Take a fast-paced thriller, add a touch of romance and a pinch of inspiration, and the result is a tasty treat for the reading senses. In her third entry in the Women of Justice series, Eason introduces Kit Kenyon, an experienced hostage negotiator who is paired with detective Noah Lambert to try to solve a murder. First it was only one body, but more corpses emerge, making it clear theres a serial killer on the loose. The unlikely pair makes an effective team, despite the obstacles encountered during the investigation, including the fact that they cant necessarily trust people they thought they knew. Eason imbues her thriller with energy and grit without losing the sense of hope thats the core of inspirational fiction. The romance between Kit and Noah is chaste yet intense, their scenes together reminiscent of the 1980s TV hit Moonlighting, flirty and smart. A sure hit with fans of both romantic suspense and inspirational fiction.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2011, American Library Association.)
