      Gr 7-10-Mallory and Meredith are now dealing with their little brother's frequent emergency-room visits due to a mysterious illness, and Meredith's romantic relationship with a ghost whose physical remains were found in Vietnam and returned to their town for burial. Mallory, who can see into the future, tries to determine if one of her brother's many babysitters is the cause of his illnesses while also preventing her twin, who can see into the past, from trying to join her ghostly boyfriend on The Other Side. Cheerleading, prom, and other high school drama help to keep the story from being too dark, but also serve to make it formulaic. Trite dialogue and some unbelievable plot developments compromise Mitchard's intriguing premise and characters.
