Romance, suspense, and the supernatural once again converge in Tyler’s enervating fifth SWAT paranormal (after To Love a Wolf). Werewolf Alex Trevino is part of the Special Wolf Alpha Team (SWAT) of shape-shifting law enforcement officers in Dallas, Tex. A straightforward but exhausting mission to get a dangerous drug off the streets takes a turn for the better when Alex meets veterinarian Lacey Barton, who may be his soulmate. She’s reluctant at first but eventually agrees to date him, and everything is better than she ever expected until she tracks down a man she suspects to be part of a dogfighting operation, and he tries to kill her. Alex shifts shape to save her, and she’s horrified to learn that her boyfriend is a “monster.” When her sister goes missing, Lacey reluctantly goes to Alex for help, and they stumble across a scheme that involves drugs, kidnapping, and murder while trying to repair their broken relationship. Hunky werewolves and

Tyler's SWAT series, about an all-werewolf Dallas special forces unit (To Love a Wolf, 2016), continues in this fifth installment. Alex Trevino is taking the squad dog, Tuffie, to the vet when he falls head over heels for the doctor there, Lacey Barton, whose soft spot for animals perfectly matches his. Though she's not usually Tuffie's vet, she'd been assigned to the Dallas PD's animal cruelty unit to aid the cops as they uncover a dog-fighting ring. Alex and Lacey's romance progresses against a backdrop of mysteries. A powerful drug called Fireball is making its way through the city. Girls are disappearing from Regional Texas College, and then Lacey's little sister goes missing, as well. Tyler piles on the action, which can be a bit difficult to keep track of, but some intriguing subplots, such as the arrival of two civilian werewolves in Dallas, raises an enticing question for future installments: Will people find out about werewolves?
