The latest in this series focuses on clothing, accessories, and toys for babies and toddlers, knit in a mixture of yarn weights ranging from fingering to worsted. Most of the items are unisex and can be easily customized based on yarn choice. Projects include ensembles, many with a sweater plus an accessory such as a hat or booties; tops, including cardigans, vests, and pullovers; bottoms, not limited to pants and soakers; dresses; hats; blankets; and toys. Techniques used range from basic stockinette stitch with simple shaping to complex lace garments, such as the heirloom christening gown. Though all of the projects call for one skein (or less), they're not all quick knits, since lightweight yarns often have 400-plus yards per skein. A number of these projects would make excellent last-minute gifts. VERDICT This is a popular series, and the collection of projects will appeal to knitters with little ones in their lives.
