According to Zack (Networking for People Who Hate Networking), the prevalent regard for multitasking is misguided. It is actually ineffective, stressful, and neurologically impossible. She posits that doing one thing at a time offers the chance for a flow of ideas, respects people who are physically present, and enables one to get more accomplished. Zack shows readers how they can manage the expectations of others, unplug from technology (at times), and operate in the moment. VERDICT While there are way too many charts and fill-in-the-blank pages, the message and suggestions are sound. Even applying a few of the tips would lead to less stress and greater productivity.
