In her second Beyond romance (after Beyond Control
), York follows treasure hunter Zachary Robinson and magician-psychic Anna Ridgeway, two loners who meet on a Caribbean island and find that they have an indelible, unexplainable mental connection. Soon enough, Anna and Zach’s romance is off with a bang, and the two lovers find they can’t get enough of each other. Unbeknownst to them, another man is keeping tabs on their movements, a shop owner named Raoul San Donato, who’s using his own black magic to watch Anna, who he covets for his own. When Zach gets too close, San Donato plots a vile kidnapping scheme, but the couple have a few more tricks (both in the bedroom and out) they can dispatch against the crafty foe. Though it’s little more than a shameless sexual romp with touches of magic, York’s magnetic characters make this novel a sexy good time.

Fleeing from a vague, growing sense of danger, psychic performer Anna Ridgeway leaves Denver for a job on an exotic Caribbean island only to find that her single-minded pursuer is closing in and will stop at nothing to claim her as his own. Her only hope lies with Zach Robinson, a treasure-hunting stranger to whom she is inexplicably drawn and with whom she shares an intense physical and psychic bond. Yet it will take all of their linked powers and skill to outwit the assorted thugs on their trail, as well as the two different masterminds behind them. The lush, idyllic setting is the perfect foil for the evil, obsession, and violence that drive the plot of this complex adventure featuring a fascinating combination of primitive religious cult practices, superheated sex, riveting suspense, and paranormal psychic abilities. The story is brought into sharp focus by a pair of admirable protagonists and a cadre of generally well-drawn secondary characters. This is the second in York's stories of sexually linked telepaths (after "Beyond Control"); she lives in Columbia, MD.
