AudioFile Magazine
Though this tenth installment of the series featuring FBI agent Lucy Kincaid lacks the rich background of its established characters, narrator Ann Marie Lee provides an especially well-developed vocal characterization of Lucy as well as her nemesis, corrupt DEA Agent Nicole Rollins. Lucy, a criminal psychologist, is at the top of Rollins's list for revenge killings. Lee helps build the suspense and moves the action along with urgent pacing to keep listeners engaged. She easily transitions between male and female characters, of which there are many, without obvious strain. The story highlights the dangers of drug running and the viciousness of Mexican cartels. It's well suited to audio as Lee adds to character development and helps listeners keep track of the many plot twists. S.C.A. © AudioFile 2016, Portland, Maine
